Chateauneuf du Pape 2007 in Magnum - Domaine Chante Perdrix
91/100 Wine Spectator
A round, juicy, and well-structured wine, driven by a generous heart of redcurrant, crushed plum, and wild blackberry. Hints of spice, toasted vanilla, and licorice enrich the overall effect. The long, fresh finish maintains a beautiful tension. Enjoy now.
Domaine Chante Perdrix's Châteauneuf-du-Pape authentically embodies the expression of the southern Rhône terroir. Located in the heart of the appellation, this family estate produces generous, powerful, and elegant wines, primarily from old Grenache vines, complemented by Syrah, Mourvèdre, and other traditional grape varieties. The typical stony soil, made of rolled pebbles, captures the sun's warmth and promotes optimal grape ripeness, giving the wine beautiful aromatic concentration and natural richness.
On tasting, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape seduces with its deep color and intense aromas of black fruits, spices, garrigue, and licorice. On the palate, the texture is ample, structured by supple but present tannins, with a lovely freshness on the finish that balances the overall effect. This wine, made for aging, can be enjoyed after a few years of aging and will pair perfectly with roast meats, stews, or mature cheeses. A classic of the appellation, both distinguished and harmonious.
