The Château Beau-Séjour Bécot is located on the limestone plateau, west of the town of Saint-émilion. It has been a family property for many years belonging to the Bécot family.
What are the specificities of Château Beau-Séjour Bécot?
In this famous château, the vineyard is at the heart of the tradition, it is a historical estate. In Gallo-Roman times, the area was already known for its vineyards. During the Middle Ages, wine production was also well known, with the Monks of Saint-Martin at the head of the estate. It was in 1969 that Michel Bécot took the helm of the Château. Michel is the descendant of a family of winegrowers in Saint-Emilion since the 18th century. There are 16 hectares of vines and the château Beauséjour is classified 1er Grand Cru B in 1996. Today it is Michel Bécot's descendants who run the estate, with Gérard and Dominique, Michel's two sons, and Juliette, Gérard's daughter.
The château offers for tasting a blended wine of different grape varieties:
The vines are on average 45 years old and give birth to a well-balanced wine combining power and elegance with good ageing potential. Year after year, critics and guides praise the investments made, the savoir-faire of the Bécot family and the profound elegance of the wines produced by the estate.
The vineyard produces an average of 60,000 bottles per year. The harvest is carried out by hand and the estate makes it a point of honour to practise a reasoned vineyard culture with respect for the environment and with a view to reducing its ecological imprint.
On tasting, we discover a wine with a rather purple colour marked by black and red fruit aromas which denotes by its touches of spices and undergrowth from the solid and melted tannins.
The estate also produces a second wine "Tournelle de Beau-Séjour Bécot".
