Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes 2010 - Frédéric Magnien
Great Burgundy wines
The Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Stéphane Magnien comes from a historic plot planted in the early 20th century (around 1902–1903). This gives the cuvée remarkable concentration and depth, while preserving the signature mouthfeel for which the appellation is known.
This 100% Pinot Noir captivates with intense aromas of fresh red fruits—such as cherry and Morello cherry—complemented by sweet spices and violet. Over time, these evolve into notes of forest floor and truffle.
On the palate, it reveals a velvety texture, a framework of fine-grained tannins, and a saline freshness that lend it an ethereal elegance—perfectly embodying the delicate, "lace-like" style characteristic of great Chambolle-Musigny wines.
Domaine Stéphane Magnien
Located in Morey-Saint-Denis, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, the estate represents the fourth generation of a passionate winemaking family. Managing approximately 4.5 hectares of vineyards across prized terroirs—including Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, and Grands Crus such as Clos Saint-Denis and Charmes-Chambertin—Stéphane Magnien prioritizes viticultural practices that respect the environment and biodiversity.
The winemaking philosophy focuses on authenticity and the purity of the fruit: fermentations are carried out using indigenous yeasts, the wines are aged in oak barrels (with a restrained use of new oak), and human intervention is kept to a minimum. The result is a range of wines defined by great finesse, prized for their drinkability, aromatic precision, and ability to faithfully reflect the diversity of Burgundy’s *climats*. Aromatic profile:
• Nose: Notes of vibrant red fruits (cherry, Morello cherry), floral touches (rose, peony, violet), and nuances of forest floor or spices.
• Palate: An airy, velvety texture with fine, silky tannins, offering lovely freshness and an often saline finish.
• Serving and pairings:
• Serving temperature: between 14°C and 16°C (57°F–61°F).
• Food pairings: Veal tenderloin, roasted poultry, or porcini mushroom risotto.
