Tasting Notes
With a deep ruby color, this wine is distinguished by its remarkable structure and aromatic complexity, blending dried flowers (rose, peony), ripe red fruits (black cherry, raspberry), and delicate spices (white pepper). The palate is generous and sensual, fleshy and jammy, with a long finish of silky, ripe tannins.
The "Colonies de Rochegrès" cuvée comes from the best parcels and oldest vines – planted in 1952 – of our 5 hectares of Fleurie located in Poncié, one of the appellation's historic vineyard sites, currently vying for Premier Cru status. Its name pays homage to its proximity to the famous Clos de Rochegrès of the Moulin-à-Vent AOP. On these steep east-facing slopes, the hard granite has been patiently eroded into pink sand, rich in silica and iron oxide, offering a unique and expressive terroir.
