 From the estate

The grape variety for this cuvée is Chardonnay, grown on the sloping brown, clay and limestone soils of the Roche de Vergisson, at an altitude of approximately 350 meters, with a south/southwest exposure. Vinification includes 10 months of aging in barrels on fine lees, followed by a few months in stainless steel tanks, allowing the wine to develop both complexity and freshness. It can be cellared for 10 years or more, fully revealing its aromatic potential and structure.

The wine is a bright, pale yellow. The nose is expressive, blending notes of acacia blossom, citrus, and pear. The palate is distinguished by its freshness, tension, and a slight salinity, with a tight texture and perfect balance, supported by a harmonious generosity. The finish, delicate yet concentrated, evokes the sea and is adorned with subtle lemony notes that prolong the sensation of vivacity and precision.

Located in the far south of Burgundy, the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation covers 800 hectares, 194 of which have been classified as Premier Cru since the 2020 vintage. The villages of Chaintré, Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly, and Vergisson constitute its exclusive production area, set within a remarkable natural landscape: the Solutré and Vergisson rocks, Jurassic limestone spurs rising to 495 meters, are classified as a "Grand Site de France." The Premier Cru La Maréchaude vineyard rests on the steep, brown, clayey, and calcareous soils of the Roche de Vergisson, rich in pebbles and deep, formed from deposits or scree slopes on low-calcareous, blue-grey marls from the early Jurassic period, 80–100 cm deep. This type of soil and topography promote significant temperature variations, ideal for revealing all the finesse and expression of Chardonnay.
