MONOPOLE - Direct from the estate

TERROIR 

• La Mission is a monopole parcel. The oldest vines were planted in 1961, the youngest in 1997.
• Total surface area: 1.9240 hectares.
• Climate & Soil: East-facing, on a rocky, limestone terrace just above the "Clos du Roi" Premier Cru.

VINIFICATION 

The grapes are hand-harvested for quality. The harvest is then sorted and pressed whole. After pressing, the juice is settled for 12 to 24 hours at a controlled temperature. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are carried out in oak barrels. After fermentation, ageing is completed after 12 to 14 months.

TASTING NOTES

Attractive gold color with green highlights. On the nose, notes of lime, yellow fruit, citrus, vanilla and brioche. Discreet hint of caramel. The nose is complex and spicy. Beautiful woody mouthfeel, very good length and persistence.

GASTRONOMY

Mercurey Premier Cru La Mission - Monopole 2016 is a perfect match for scallop and mushroom risotto, as well as fruity hard cheeses such as Comté or Tomme de Fleurs.

Enjoy now at an ideal temperature of 12-14°C, or cellar for 3-8 years.

THE ART OF TASTING

We all too often forget that it's not enough to have good wines in your cellar, you also need to know how to serve them. Temperature is an essential element, around 12° for whites and 15° for reds, and without a good tasting glass to amplify the wine's aromas, you're sure to diminish your enjoyment. A good glass gives the wine plenty of aeration and a narrower neck, allowing the nose to better grasp the richness and complexity of the great wine.
