Mercurey Clos de la Maladière 2022 - Château de Chamirey
Produced from three plots totaling 1.36 hectares, planted between 1959 and 1979, the Mercurey Clos de la Maladière 2022 flourishes on clay-limestone soil with a predominance of clay. Facing south to north on a gentle slope dotted with small pebbles, this vineyard enjoys an ideal environment for producing wines of character.
Harvested by hand, the grapes are carefully sorted and completely destemmed before undergoing cold pre-fermentation maceration for 4 to 5 days. Fermentation starts naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts, with extraction adjusted daily to suit the material. The wine is aged for 10 months in oak barrels (20% of which are new), then 3 months in vats, giving it its refined balance. On tasting, the bright garnet color opens up to a typical nose of undergrowth and mushrooms. The palate seduces with elegant tannins and a delicate texture, prolonged by a salty finish. This wine is a perfect accompaniment to a Burgundy fondue or chocolate cake, and can be kept for 7 to 10 years, ideally served at 55-58°F.
