Château Margaux 2012
First Grand Cru Rated
96/100 Parker
- Cellaring: 2022 - 2050
- By Neal Martin in 2016: "Tasted blind at the 2012 Southwold tasting, the 2012 Chateau Margaux has a taut, linear, lead pencil-infused bouquet, with pure blackberry and boysenberry scents, a tobacco undercurrent that surfaces after five minutes in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins, crisp acidity, a bracing sense of balance and well-integrated new oak on the finish. I agree with Robert Parker that this wine has become more structured and masculine in bottle, but there is a pedigree here from start to finish, a sense of ease that is appealing. This is a first class wine from the late Paul Pontallier and his team. Tasted in January 2016."
