Château Cheval Blanc 1999
Saint-Emilion - Premier Grand Cru Classé
Tasting note : A pleasant garnet-coloured character, with aromas of tobacco and spices; medium-bodied, with sweet fruit flavours.
Cellaring : An old vintage to enjoy or collect now.
Grape variety : The real originality of Cheval Blanc is its atypical grape variety from the rest of the appellation. Here, the Cabernet Sauvignon is singularly absent, whereas the famous Cabernet Franc is present at around 60%. Merlot (which usually dominates the wines of St Emilion) is at 40% here.
