Château d'Yquem 1999 - From the Lur Saluces cellars
Sauternes - Premier Grand Cru Classé
Exceptional Provenance: The Marquis de Lur Saluces Cellar
This bottle comes directly from the private cellar of Alexandre de Lur Saluces, an emblematic figure of Château d’Yquem. A descendant of a prestigious lineage, he was one of the greatest architects of Yquem’s renown, which he managed for over 35 years. Considered the guardian of the Yquem style, he left his mark on the history of Sauternes through his exacting standards and expertise.
Stored in ideal conditions (stable temperature, total darkness, controlled humidity), this wine benefits from perfect traceability and impeccable storage, a rarity for old vintages. Bottles from this historic collection are available in extremely limited quantities and represent a unique opportunity for collectors and connoisseurs of fine wines.
Terroir
The Château d’Yquem vineyard comprises 113 hectares of vines. The terroir is at the highest altitude in Sauternes, giving it a unique microclimate. This microclimate is crucial, as it allows easterly winds to circulate through the vineyard, helping to eliminate unwanted excess humidity, especially later in the growing season when noble rot develops.
