Legendary Bottle: Château d'Yquem 1967 (Double 100/100)
1er Grand Cru Sauternes
100/100 Parker
The 1967 Château d'Yquem comes from an exceptional vintage for sweet wines, despite an overall disappointing year for Bordeaux reds. After a complicated harvest in early October, a period of rain followed by hot, dry weather fostered a spectacular development of botrytis, giving rise to one of the greatest Yquems in history.
In the glass, it displays a sumptuous amber color with deep golden highlights. The nose, remarkably intense, reveals aromas of candied mandarin, sweet spices, praline, cinnamon, and orange blossom, enriched with hints of gingerbread and lemon butter.
The palate impresses with its vibrant energy, carried by a dazzling freshness that perfectly balances its considerable richness. Citrus and spice notes intertwine with a delicate floral framework, offering a sensation that is both ethereal and intensely persistent. For Sauternes enthusiasts, a perfectly preserved bottle of this 1967 is simply an absolute holy grail.
