TASTING NOTES
99/100 Parker
When to drink this wine? Now to 2040.
Tasted by Robert M. Parker, Jr. in 2010: "Emerging from a relatively dormant state, this 2000 is a spectacular Cheval Blanc. Among the vintages of the 2000s, I think only the 2009 can compete with it. A blend of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Franc, the wine has a sweet nose of mint, melted licorice, boysenberry, blueberry and cassis. A broad, compellingly pure, beautifully textured wine with sweet tannins and coffee and earth notes in the background, this is by far the best Cheval Blanc since 1990 and before 2009. It is a legend in the making and can be drunk now, as the tannins have almost melted away. It's a beauty with incredibly complex aromas."
