Saumur L'Enroulée 2019 - Clos de l'Écotard
Thibaud & Michel Chevré
92/100 Parker
Cellaring: 2021 - 2034
By Stephan Reinhardt on October 14, 2021: "Made from 50-year-old Chenin vines on sandy-clay soils and crafted only in "complicated vintages," said Thibaud Chevré, after yielding only 19 hectoliters per hectare in this one hectare, the 2019 Saumur Blanc L'Enroulée is a fascinating, pure, fresh and flinty (but still slightly untamed) Saumur with precision and definition. Blending the grapes normally used for sparkling wine from the Haie Nadin plot, it is a full-bodied, elegant Chenin, very intense and textured, with ripe fruit and concentrated, finely tannic juice, but also a challenging purity and lemony freshness on the finish. Still a little nervous but also refined and full of tension, this is one of the best Saumur Blancs I have tasted in this vintage. Tasted in April 2021."
