Côte-Rotie La Germine 2020 - Duclaux
Domaine Benjamin & David DUCLAUX
(91 - 93)/100 Parker
When to drink this wine? Now to 2030.
Tasted by Joe Czerwinski in 2022: "The 2020 Cote Rotie La Germine - blended from a variety of barrels - offers a harmonious blend of red raspberries and black olives on the nose. It has a silky texture and is long, with just a hint of dark chocolate on the lingering finish. It reflects the brothers' preference for smooth, elegant wines."
- The Cuvée La Germine is the main cuvée of the estate. It is a typical example of Côte-Rôtie from the south of the Côte-Rôtie appellation.
- It is composed of 97% syrah and 3% viognier.
- It comes from several lieux-dits (Coteau de Tupin, Tupin, le collet, Maison-Rouge, Coteau de Bassenon) all located on a Gneiss or Migmatite bedrock.
- This cuvée, both complete and balanced, expresses first and foremost the elegance of the Côte-Rôtie appellation.
- Yield: 25 hl/ha Vinification: manual harvest. 100% de-stemmed, 3 weeks maceration in temperature-controlled vats.
- Ageing: 20 months in barrels and demi-muids, 20% of which are new barrels.
