Côte-Rotie Maison Rouge 2018 in Magnum - Duclaux
Domaine Benjamin & David DUCLAUX
(94 - 96)/100 Parker
Keeping potential: 2021 - 2035
By Joe Czerwinski in 2019: "Tasted from an older barrel, the Cote Rotie Maison Rouge 2018 promises to be a Duclaux for eternity (the finished blend will include approximately 40% new oak). Smoky and floral but pure, with red raspberries flooding the full-bodied palate, it is undeniably rich, yet silky and almost weightless. Am I underestimating it?"
The Cuvée Maison Rouge is the single vineyard cuvée and flagship of the estate.
100% syrah.
Made from old Syrah vines planted on a gneiss bedrock, this wine is the pride of the estate.
Yield: 25 hl/ha Vinification: manual harvest. 100% de-stemmed, 3 weeks maceration in temperature-controlled vats.
Ageing: 20 months in barrels and demi-muids, 20% of which are new barrels.
