Saumur Bizay White 2019 Clos de Guichaux - Monopole - Guiberteau
Cellaring : Drink now or cellar until 2040.
Presentation of the wine : The Saumur Bizay Clos de Guichaux comes from a monopole that the family holds in Saumur. Planted in 2003 on silt and sand over a relatively soft limestone base, hand-harvested, naturally fermented and aged for nine months in older oak barrels.
Tasting note: Intense golden yellow colour, opens with intense and perfectly ripe and aromatic fruit on the nose immediately appealing and charming. Full-bodied, round and juicy, with remarkably fine acidity and a really crumbly chalky character, this is a very attractive but concentrated, dense and substantial, textured Saumur Chenin. It is already drinkable today! But this wine can age for years, even decades. The finish is intense and long, but also fine and fresh, and reveals fine tension and mineral grip. Very challenging and clearly limestone-driven, but in a very charming way.
