Organic wines
Located in the heart of the Southern Rhône Valley, Domaine Marcel Richaud has established itself as a leading name for lovers of authentic and vibrant wines. Based in Cairanne, the estate was founded in the 1970s by Marcel Richaud, an iconic figure who profoundly influenced the appellation with his exacting vision and commitment to respecting the terroir. From the very beginning, Marcel opted for hand-harvesting, working the soil, and a natural approach to viticulture, long before these practices became commonplace. Today, the estate covers approximately 80 hectares and offers a wide diversity of terroirs, which is expressed in each of its wines.
Over time, the estate has become a true family adventure. Thomas, Marcel's son, has gradually taken over the management of the vineyards and the winery. He perpetuates the estate's philosophy by vinifying each plot separately, respecting indigenous yeasts, and minimizing intervention. His precision and attention to detail have further refined the Richaud style. Thomas's sister, Claire, has also joined the team; she embodies the estate's welcoming spirit, rigor, and dynamism. Together, they form a close-knit, modern team, faithful to the founding values instilled by Marcel.
Domaine Richaud has been certified organic since 2008. This label underscores a long-standing commitment: no herbicides, respect for the soil, hand-harvesting, and meticulous plot-by-plot work. In the cellar, vinification is carried out without oenological additives, with natural fermentations thanks to the yeasts present on the grape skins. Aging takes place in large oak casks, vats, or large containers, slowly and respectfully, in order to preserve the identity of each terroir. Sulfur is used sparingly, only when the vintage requires it.
