Presentation of Domaine Gangloff
Domaine Gangloff extends over 6 hectares of vines in Côte-Rôtie and produces 10,000 bottles a year. The grape variety is Syrah.
Yves Gangloff, a native Alsatian, arrived in the region in 1978. He planted his first vines with Mathilde in 1984. He then began vinification in 1988 and bottled his entire production from that year onwards. Today he is one of the stars of the appellation.
The Domaine Gangloff is one of the few producers of the Rhône that offer a high quality wine. It is an estate that produces great wines thanks to its rigour, seriousness and passion.
Domaine Gangloff vintages and tasting notes
The Domaine Yves Gangloff La Sereine Noire is made from 100% Syrah vines at least 50 years old. The vines are planted in the lieux-dits of Mollard and Côte-Rozier, making it a blend of Côte Blonde and Côte Brune grapes.
The stems are extracted from 50% to 60% of the grapes. The wine is vinified in stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged in new French oak barrels between 30% and 50% up to 24 months before bottling. The production is on average close to 650 cases of wine each year.
When young, Domaine Yves Gangloff must be decanted for at least 1 to 3 hours, drop by drop, to allow the wines to soften and open their fragrance. Older vintages may require very little decanting, just enough to remove sediment.
