Domaine Gros'Noré 2011 - Bandol rouge
94/100 Parker
Cellaring: 2016 - 2031
By Jeb Dunnuck in 2014: "Both reds are brilliant and very likely the wines of the vintage, the 2011 Bandol comes from 30-year-old vines and is a blend of 80% Mourvedre, 15% Grenache and 5% Cinsault. Aged 18 months in foudre, it is a dense, concentrated 2011 that offers notions of black cherry, blackberry, earth and ground herbs on the nose. It evolves into a full-bodied, superbly constructed wine with considerable structure, superb purity of fruit, and a stunning finish. Give it another 2-3 years of cellaring and enjoy it for the next 15+ years."
The red wine of Bandol is made up of several grape varieties, each of which brings its own personality to the wine. The Grenache brings a fruity touch, the Cinsault contributes to the finesse of the wine, the Carignan gives it its acidity and the Mourvèdre gives the wine its structure. All these vines are between 40 and 60 years old. All these grape varieties are blended together to create the overall harmony of the wine. Made from native yeasts, this wine is neither filtered nor fined.
