Purchase bottles of 2006 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Pruliers" – Henri Gouges
Rare Burgundy wine
92/100 Parker
"Christian Gouges believes that this monopole benefits from a particularly advantageous exposure on the hillside: the lower sections, rich in clay, help retain acidity and provide structure. The Domaine Gouges parcel in the 'Les Pruliers' cru in Nuits-Saint-Georges—much like the 'Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges'—stretches from the clay-rich base of the slope up to its stony summit (where, as Christian Gouges notes, working the vines is, to say the least, perilous). This configuration undoubtedly contributes to the wine's complexity. Ripe, rich notes of cherry, plum, and lingonberry remain remarkably clear, blending with a diverse palette of mineral nuances that evoke both stone and chalk. Like the 'Clos des Porrets,' this wine features abundant yet fine-grained tannins, resulting in a texture that is both dense and silky. The finish is somewhat fresher, more austere, and distinctly marked by minerality; yet, it is balanced by an invigorating acidity and a great sense of freshness that make the wine highly appealing. While I might be slightly less inclined to drink it in its youth compared to other wines in this range, it should evolve beautifully over the next decade or so." – David Schildknecht
