The soil here is limestone, very stony, and shallow, forcing the old Pinot Noir vines to draw their strength from the heart of the rock. The result is a nose of fascinating complexity and immense distinction, where notes of ripe red berries, dried rose, and violet mingle with hints of white pepper, undergrowth, and cigar box.
