Hermitage 2009 - Jean-Louis Chave
100/100 Parker
Cellaring : 2016 - 2034
Tasted by Robert M. Parker, Jr. on December 23, 2011: "The greatest wines Chave has produced since 2003 are the two vintages of the 2009 Hermitage. The 2009 Hermitage has a black/purple color and a sumptuous nose of roasted meats, ground pepper, black currants, blackberry jam, smoke and licorice. The extraordinary bouquet is followed by a wine of extravagant intensity and terrific concentration and precision. While not as powerful as the blockbuster 2003, the stunning 2009 may prove to be a modern version of their magnificent 1990 (which is drinking incredibly well right now). Anyone who loves Hermitage and has a cold cellar should queue up to get a few bottles of this beauty."
