The Rosé from Domaine Hugues Godmé is a Grand Cru Champagne from the prestigious villages of Verzy and Verzenay, located on the Montagne de Reims. This cuvée is made from a blend dominated by Pinot Noir (approximately 65%), complemented by Chardonnay (35%). A small proportion of Pinot Noir vinified as a red wine is added to contribute its rosé color and characteristic red fruit notes. The grapes come from exceptional chalky terroirs, cultivated using organic and biodynamic practices that aim to best express the purity of the fruit and the identity of the terroir.
The winemaking process for this cuvée prioritizes a precise and respectful approach to the raw materials. A portion of the wine is aged in oak barrels to add complexity and texture, while malolactic fermentation is only partially carried out to preserve freshness and tension. The Champagne then benefits from extended aging in the cellars, approximately six years, which allows the mousse to refine and a beautiful aromatic depth to develop. Its very low Extra Brut dosage underscores the wine's purity and highlights its natural balance.
On tasting, Le Rosé captivates with its elegant yet expressive style. The nose reveals aromas of small red fruits such as raspberry, redcurrant, and cherry, accompanied by floral and slightly pastry notes. On the palate, the texture is fine and vinous, supported by delicate bubbles and a chalky minerality typical of the Montagne de Reims.
