The Les Romaines cuvée from Champagne Hugues Godmé is a single-vineyard Champagne emblematic of the Montagne de Reims. It comes from a single plot located in Ville-Dommange, a Premier Cru vineyard in the Petite Montagne de Reims. This single-vineyard approach aims to reveal the precise identity of a specific vineyard site and to highlight the potential of Pinot Meunier, a grape variety often underestimated in Champagne.
The Les Romaines cuvée is made from 100% Pinot Meunier from a small plot of approximately 0.39 hectares. The grapes are vinified like a fine still wine: fermentation and aging in oak barrels, without fining or filtration, in order to preserve the wine's aromatic richness. After bottling, the champagne benefits from extended aging on its lees, sometimes exceeding eight years, before disgorgement.
The style of this cuvée is vinous and expressive: the Meunier grape reveals notes of white fruits, pear, yellow fruits, sometimes toast and spices, with a full texture and a fresh, saline finish typical of the great Champagne terroirs.
Offered as Brut Nature, this champagne is intentionally undosed to allow the purity of the fruit and terroir to shine through. It is a gastronomic cuvée, capable of accompanying a full meal, particularly fish, shellfish, or refined dishes.
