Château Latour 2005
Pauillac - Premier Grand Cru Rated
98+/100 Parker
Garde : Wine at maturity. It can be enjoyed now.
Tasting note by Lisa Perrotti-Brown in 2019: "2005 was a very dry, hot and sunny vintage, causing vine stress in some areas of Bordeaux. Harvested from September 26 to October 6, tannin/IPT levels were very high this year. The 2005 Latour is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the rest being Merlot and Petit Verdot. This was the biggest surprise of the tasting - up until now the wine has been relatively closed and brooding, but now the wine is just beginning to reveal its personality - and what a stunner it was! Medium-deep garnet-purple in color, it opens with provocative floral scents of roses and violets over a core of fresh black currants, chocolate-covered cherries and black raspberries with notes of fertile soil, unsmoked cigar and black tea. Medium to full-bodied, firm, grainy and packed with muscular fruit, it has an epic, long and savory finish, sparkling with floral notes."
