Château Léoville Barton 1986
Saint-Julien - 2ème Grand Cru Classé
92/100 Parker
Reviewer: William Kelley
Tasting Period: 2016 - 2046
"Approaching 40 years of age, this 1986 Léoville Barton retains the appearance of a 10-year-old wine. In the carafe and glass, it reveals aromas of cassis, cedar, and damp earth. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with concentrated fruit, crisp acidity, and chalky tannins.
The first impression remains somewhat angular and uncompromising, but aeration allows the wine to round out harmoniously. In the hierarchy of 1980s vintages from this property, I would place it behind the irresistible 1985, the underrated 1988, and the captivating 1989, but ahead of the 1983 and 1982.
With a good cork and Under proper storage conditions, well-stored bottles can still evolve for two more decades."

Serving temperature :
Château Léoville Barton should be served at an ideal serving temperature of around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius (60 to 64 degrees Fahrenheit). We recommend decanting before serving to allow the wine to air out and release all its aromas and flavour.
