Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru Cailleret 2018 - Louis jadot
(91 - 93)/100 Parker
Tasted by William Kelley January 9, 2020: "Notes of citrus zest, crisp orchard fruit, crushed chalk and smoke preface the 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Cailleret (Maison Louis Jadot), a wine
quite taut and attractively precise. It too will benefit from a second winter in barrel."
GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION
Located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet is one of the 5 villages that make up the prestigious "Côte des Blancs". Exposed to the East and South-East, the soil of the Premiers Crus of Chassagne is mainly composed of clay and limestone.
CHARACTERISTICS
Le Cailleret is located in the south of the commune, just above the famous "Champs Gains". The soil of this first growth is perfectly adapted to the production of white wines, due to its predominantly brown clay-limestone composition. Its exposure is East - South/East.
VINIFICATION AND MATURATION
The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then gently pressed and fermented in barrels from our cooperage, a third of which are new. The wine is aged for about 15 months on fine lees before being prepared for bottling.
Serving temperature : 12-14 C°.
Ageing potential: 5 to 15 years, depending on the vintage.
