Corton Grand Cru Perrières 2016 - Louis Latour
96/100 James Suckling
J.S. tasting: ‘Very complex nose of black fruit, with spicy, earthy and animal notes. Despite the power and concentration, the wine remains elegant and racy. Breathtaking finish! Think long-term. It will gain in patience over the next two or three years.
- Grape variety: Pinot noir
- Description : Located on the hillside of the Grands Crus de Corton, at an altitude of 273 metres, in a former stone quarry, the vineyard of Les Perrières benefits from a perfect south-east exposure. Our Corton Grancey winery is part of this terroir. The brown and red clay soils give a delicious and intense wine. The well-aged vines are managed in the traditional way by Domaine Louis Latour. Severe pruning allows a later harvest and ensures a good level of maturity and richness in the grapes.
- Fermentation : Traditional in open vats.
- Ageing : 10 to 12 months of ageing in oak barrels, 100% new
Barrels.
Cooperage: Louis Latour, French oak, medium toast.
- Wine tasting by the estate: "The Corton-Perrières Grand Cru 2018 reveals a dark ruby red colour with garnet highlights. The nose is intense with aromas of redcurrant, undergrowth and mocha. The palate is full and round with hints of liquorice and pepper. A wine with exceptional freshness and persistence complemented by a lush tannic structure."
- Food and wine pairing : Beef Bourguignon - wild boar - mature cheeses
