Description : Located just south of Volnay and Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, Meursault is the largest white wine commune in the southern part of the Côte d'Or. Meursault comes from "Marsault", a variety of robust broad-leaved willow trees valued for their tannin-rich bark and weather-resistant wood. The perfect southeast exposure and the stony, marly soils contribute to the remarkable finesse of Meursault wines. Typical Meursault wines tend to be very powerful and are often ready to drink sooner than the wines of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet.
