Château Lynch Bages 1986
Pauillac - 5th Grand Cru Rated
94/100 Parker
Cellaring: 2016 - 2040
Tasted by Neal Martin on 30 December 2016: "The 1986 Lynch Bages has a stunning bouquet that envelops you in all its beauty: pure black cherries, mint and cedar, even a touch of glycerin still present. Vibrant and youthful. The palate is beautifully balanced, lively and taut, linear but very precise with a fine bead of acidity. One falls under the spell of the harmony of this Lynch Bages, of the intensity of the fruit which does not seem to diminish on the finish. Is it on a par with the 1989 and 1990? Perhaps not, but it is not far behind. Frankly, this Lynch Bages is a 1986 Claret that you can't own too much of and as I commented to Jean-Michel Cazes who was tasting alongside me, at 30 years old, it has even more to give. Tasted in July 2016."
