Mercurey 2019 Les Montots - Domaine de Villaine
DESCRIPTION
Les Montots is a locality with fairly pronounced hillsides, facing south, and planted with a selection of fine Pinot Noir from Nuits-Saint-Georges, chosen for its aromatic qualities and moderate yield.
The Mercurey Les Montots is a true Mercurey, well-structured and vigorous. It is a deep wine with a very dark "ruby" colour, which opens up little by little with age and only reveals all its aromas after a minimum of 5 to 7 years. Depending on the vintage and your cellar, it can easily be kept for 15 to 20 years.
Serve it around 18 degrees with red meat, game and many cheeses, but also avoid soft pasta such as camembert, brie or vacherin.
TASTING
Vinified in wooden vats for 18 days and then matured in barrels of one to five wines. The robe is ruby, rather deep. The nose shows notes of black fruits, with a little "animality" and some spicy sensations. The palate is structured and its touch, all in finesse, reveals firm but ripe tannins and ensures exceptional length.
To be enjoyed now, taking care to open the bottle a few hours beforehand, or to be drunk within six or ten years.
