Meursault Charmes premier cru 2006 - Louis Latour
Description
Located just south of Volnay and Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, Meursault is the largest white wine commune in the southern Côte d'Or. The excellent quality of the Premiers Crus compensates for the fact that this appellation has no Grands Crus. The Meursault "Charmes" vineyard is located just south of the village and is known to be one of the climats producing the finest wines of the appellation. The mineral and well-drained soil is perfect for Chardonnay and the wines are opulent, with aromas of ripe peaches, apples and hazelnuts. The name "Charmes" indicates that this parcel used to be a plateau with little vegetation or an abandoned site.
Vinification & Maturing: Traditional fermentation in oak barrels, 100% malolactic.
Ageing: 8 to 10 months in oak barrels, 50% new
Barrels: Tonnellerie Louis Latour, French oak, medium toast
Food/wine pairings: Vol-au-vent - veal fillet - pike - morels - cheese.
