Petrus 1988 - Pomerol
95/100 Wine Spectator
- Tasting Note : "Subtle yet rich aromas of grilled meat, black olive and dark red fruits. Full-bodied, very soft and silky, with ultrarefined tannins. The finish lasts for minutes. The quality of the tannins is beautiful and the complexity of fruit, earth and spices is impressive. Drinking this is like listening to Mozart." — JS

- Petrus is one of the most prestigious and sought-after wines in the world, produced in the Pomerol region. See our available stocks on the website.
Grape variety :
Petrus is predominantly Merlot, making up over 95% of its blend. The remainder may be Cabernet Franc, although the percentage varies from year to year.
Food and wine pairing:
Because of its complexity and depth, Petrus pairs well with a variety of dishes, including:
- Roast or grilled red meats, such as fillet of beef, entrecote steak or rack of lamb.
- Game birds, such as duck or partridge.
- Truffle-based dishes, such as truffle risottos or truffle pasta.
- Soft, strong-flavoured cheeses such as Brie or Camembert.
Serving temperature :
Between 16 and 18°C. This allows the wine to express itself fully and reveal its complex aromas. It is important not to serve it too cold, as this can mask its subtleties.
This is a wine that can be keeping in a wine cellar, which means it can age for many years, developing greater complexity and depth over time.
