- Comment by Robert M. Parker in 2004: "The 2001 Petrus (2,160 cases produced) has more depth and richness thanany other Pomerol I have tasted. Its deep, saturated ruby/plum/purple colour is accompanied by a tight but promising bouquet of vanilla, cherry liqueur, melted licorice, black currants, and notions of truffles and earth. Rich, full-bodied, and surprisingly thick and intense, there is plenty of structure underpinning the rich fruit and extract".
