Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Fichots 2019 - Nicolas Rossignol
(91 - 93)/100 Parker
Tasted by William Kelley on January 14, 2021: "The 2019 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Fichots reveals aromas of sweet red berries, plums, raw cocoa and forest floor. Layered and velvety, with beautifully refined tannins and a long, penetrating finish, this is another of the most charming wines in the Rossignol lineup this year."
Geographical location: Located under the Iles de Vergelesses at mid-slope, opposite the Corton-Charlemagne appellation.
Soil and environment : Clay-limestone soil, very red because rich in iron. The mother rock far enough from the soil gives it the micro elements necessary for its growth.
The vine : A blend of forty year old vines and an older vine of sixty years.
The wine : Attack on the palate on small acidulous red fruits, with a lot of tension and minerality. Remains very straight on the finish, balancing well thanks to its freshness, while keeping a good ageing in general.
