When to drink this wine : 2025 - 2045
Tasted by Joe Czerwinski : " A blend of 70% mourvèdre, 20% grenache and 10% syrah, Châteauneuf du Pape la Part des Anges 2021 is the first vintage of this cuvée to be vinified in demi-muids. As a result, the cedar seems more subtle and better integrated than in previous vintages, nuancing the other aromas of crushed stone, plum and black cherry. Full-bodied, rich and velvety in texture, with an almost limitless finish, this wine is simply superb..."
The Cuvée :
A late ripening and very capricious grape variety, Mourvèdre is certainly one of the most demanding grape varieties in the south of France, especially when one is at the northern limit of its cultivation. This cuvée benefits from a fairly marked ageing process to accompany the tannic power of the grape variety. When a wine is put into barrel for ageing, part of its volume evaporates, and it is called "LA PART DES ANGES". La PART DES ANGES is a rather special cuvée for a Châteauneuf du Pape since it is the mourvèdre that dominates the blend (70%), followed by Grenache (20%) and a little Syrah (10%). You should decant if you wish to taste this cuvée before its first 2-3 years of aging.
