Crozes Hermitage 2017 Les Châssis - Yves Cuilleron
Origin : One hectare of vines on the famous terroir called "Les Châssis", located in the commune of Mercurol. A plot-based cuvée of high quality and good ageing potential.
Terroir: deep soil, stony alluvium from the quaternary period.
Grape variety: Syrah.
Viticulture: treatments limited to the maximum according to the weather, no insecticide to preserve biodiversity, little fertilizer and only organic. Control of vigour and yields, leaf thinning, green harvesting for a better ripening of the grapes. Disbudding in spring.
Vinification: manual harvest, plot by plot and traditional vinification. Use as little as possible of oenological products (native yeasts). In the cellar, sorting, crushing and partial de-stemming. Maceration for 3 weeks in open vats.
Ageing: 18 months in barrels.
Alcohol content: 13% Alc./Vol.
Production: approx. 3,380 bottles.
Style: Complex and powerful nose. Blend of ripe black fruits, sweet spices and liquorice. Round and greedy mouth. Spicy tannins bring a delicate length.
Ageing: To be enjoyed young on fruity aromas (3 to 4 years) or on evolutionary aromas (10 years and more).
Food match: Meats of character (lamb, beef, duck, suckling pig).
