Rully 1er Cru Rabourcé 2018 - Domaine de Villaine
91/100 Parker
Cellaring capacity: 2022 - 2035
By William Kelley in 2021: "The 2018 Rully 1er Cru Rabourcé offers notions of crisp orchard fruit, orange zest, nutmeg and vanilla bean with a patina of ageing in a new foudre purchased specifically to vinify this new parcel. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and precise, it's lively and charming, finishing with a long, saline finish."
DESCRIPTION
A Latin term meaning "place which is in the opposite direction to the normal direction", our Rully 1er Cru white "Rabourcé" is a Climate located on the highest and warmest hillside in the North of the Rully Appellation area and backwards from its neighbors "Raclot" and "Cloux". Its nose expresses as many floral notes as notes of lemon and fresh fruit. Its mouth is round, as elegant as it is rich in energy and aromatic freshness. Do not serve too cold: between 12 and 14 degrees with foie gras, white meats or hard cheeses.
TASTING
For a first vintage, this wine was immediately marked by its "terroir" made up of white clay, with an opulent nose of white flesh fruit aromas, chalky notes, verbena and toasted toast, slightly woody due to vinification and maturing in a new wooden cask. The palate is beautiful, fine and fleshy, fruity and very digestible, with a very nice aromatic persistence reminiscent of cherry pit at the end of the mouth.
