Saint Joseph Rouge
Vineyard : From Chavanay in the north to Guilherand in the south, it extends over some fifty kilometres on the right bank of the Rhône; twenty-three communes in the Ardèche and three in the Loire.
Soil: Light schist and gneiss on a granite base.
Climate : Moderate continental, hot and dry summers, regular rainfall in the other seasons.
Exposure: South and south-east
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal maturity. The harvest is 100% de-stemmed. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 28 to 32°C in concrete vats. After devatting and pressing, the malolactic fermentation is carried out in vats.
