Château Saint Pierre 2016
Grand cru classé de Saint Julien
96/100 James Suckling
This is fantastic, offering lots of fresh tobacco and blackcurrants and undertones of hazelnuts and chocolate. Full-bodied with firm and chewy tannins, yet ever so polished and refined. One of the most structured St. Pierre’s in years. A blend of 73 per cent cabernet sauvignon, 21 per cent merlot and six per cent cabernet franc.
Château Saint-Pierre is a prestigious Saint-Julien, renowned for its powerful and refined style. The wine typically opens with a deep nose of black fruit, cedar, and spicy notes. On the palate, it is distinguished by a dense and perfectly chiseled structure. The tannins are firm yet elegant, offering a remarkable balance between power and finesse. Notes of blackcurrant, graphite, and subtle oak nuances unfold with precision. The finish is long, noble, and of great aromatic purity. This is a wine of character, built to age gracefully.
