"Analytical data often mean very little, as I believe is the case with the 2022 La Tour de Curon Chardonnay, a wine that has 15.4% alcohol that is not noticeable, possibly compensated by a pH of 3.2. It is certainly riper and wider than the barrel sample of the 2024 that I had tasted a few minutes before, and it shows quite in balance. Warmer years often need longer élevage, and this had three years in wood, but it is not oaky at all—he uses well-seasoned, neutral barrels—and extra time often pays off. It has a bright, almost fluorescent color, a good indicator in my book, with a fine nose, with the elegance from the Bajocian limestone soils. It's very tasty and round but still shows minerality, with concentration and freshness. It ended up being one of the finest ouillé whites—a wine that transcends the vintage, as the place is stronger than the climate." Luis Gutiérrez
- Cellaring: Drink from 4 years in the cellar. Can be kept for a decade or more.
- The Domaine Tissot wine "Arbois Chardonnay Clos de la Tour de Curon" comes from the Bajocian limestone soils that surround the tower. Like the rest of the single-varietal Chardonnays, this one was aged in barrel for two years before bottling. There is an extra depth and elegance here, the wine has incredible finesse and filigree, it is complex and structured. It is stunningly pure and balanced, and has weight and poise. It transcends the character of the year.
