Description :This wine is traditionally produced from the grapes of a small vineyard:
This wine is traditionally produced from vines located on the gravelly soil of Turckheim, all around the place called Herrenweg. Some parts, closer to Wintzenheim, contain a richer deposit of finer silt. Turckheim benefits from a very dry, warm and sunny climate, being part of the "Colmar" microclimate, the driest in France. The valley winds tend to keep the clouds away and the distance from the Vosges mountains reduces the shadow effect of the mountains. The gravelly soils are well drained and therefore warm up quickly. They do not contain clays, so they also have a limited water retention capacity. All these elements explain why this area is so early and requires regular rainfall. The wines reflect this precociousness by being able to reveal their potential early. They are also a very good representation of the characteristics of the grape variety. In 2019, the ripening period was ideal for these soils. The grapes were harvested in perfect health and with ideal balance, allowing them to finish completely dry.
Tasting notes :
2/2021: Pale gold colour. The nose shows a classic combination of citrus and pebble/mineral aromas, almost unusual for this vintage. The 2019 vintage shows remarkable balance and structure on the palate. It will certainly age longer, and with freshness, compared to previous vintages. The palate is quite concentrated, with surprisingly firm acidity that brings salivation and a clean, dry finish.
