Tasting notes: "The ripe, tropical, perfumed 2020 Saint Peray Ongrie is something of an anomaly within the appellation, whose wines are generally less expressive on the nose. It is quite powerful, with a slightly dusty, chalky mouthfeel and a long, pineapple-tinged finish. It is Marsanne vinified and aged for a year in 228 and 400 liter barrels, 30% of which are new."
THE DOMAIN TELLS YOU ABOUT IT
Former Cuvée Terres Boisées: Renamed Ongrie with the 2015 vintage, this cuvée created in 1984 was first called Cuvée Boisée and then Terres Boisées, in reference to the vinification and maturation in barrels on lees that Alain Voge pioneered in Saint-Péray, some 30 years ago. At that time, most of Saint-Péray's production was made using the traditional method and the wines were vinified in vats.
- Cultivation : The whole estate is in organic and biodynamic cultivation.
- Grape variety : 100 % MARSANNE
- Density : The plot of the domain : 1,5 ha / The appellation : 110 ha.
- Vinification with indigenous yeasts, exclusively in oak barrels of 228 and 400 liters, with 30% new wood.
- Aged on fine lees for 13 months.
- Reduced sulphiting - total SO2 53 mg/l (authorized in organic : 150 mg/l)
- Production : 5132 bottles / 120 half bottles
- Ageing potential : 5 to 7 years
- Terroir: The vines, about 50 years old, are planted on very old alluvium from the Rhône enriched with granitic colluvium. The presence of limestone and clay in the soil explains the minerality and the particular freshness of this wine.
