RATING : (95 - 100)/100 Parker - 97/100 James Suckling
Cellaring: 2021 - 2045
Tasted by Lisa Perrotti-Brown on October 15, 2020: "Angelus 2017 is garnet-purple in color, with notes of warm currant, Black Forest cake, blackberry compote, and pencil shavings, with hints of rose oil, black tea, clove, and cumin seed. The medium-bodied palate is wonderfully elegant and refreshing, with fine-grained tannins and layers of preserved red and black fruits, finishing at length with a firework of minerals. What a beauty!"
TERROIR
The Angelus style is the marriage of a bold grape variety with an exceptional terroir. It is this unique character born from the southern coast of Saint-Emilion and its high proportion of Cabernet Franc that we like to find over the vintages. It is a composition reorchestrated each year, always in search of excellence.
Château Angélus 2017 is composed of a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.
SERVICE
Château Angélus should be served at a temperature of 15°C, in a red wine glass of the "Bordeaux" type. The ideal quantity is 15 cl.
For wines that have not been aged in barrels, decanting is not necessary. Aeration in a carafe is recommended when the wine is young and has been aged in oak barrels. For older wines, it is preferable to decant them a few hours before serving them. This can also be done for young wines in the context of aeration.
