Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru 2023 La Romanée - Paul Pillot
Domaine Paul Pillot
(94–96)/100 Parker – William Kelley
The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru La Romanée is the most reductive and refined wine in the range. It gradually opens with aromas of crisp stone fruit, apple blossom, toasted almond, and flint. On the palate, the silky and refined attack gives way to a dense, structured, and complex mid-palate, supported by lively acidity and a long, chalky, and taut finish. A great terroir-driven wine, precise and distinguished, promising remarkable development over time.
The 2023 vintage from Domaine Paul Pillot:
This 2023 vintage marks another success for Thierry Pillot, offering whites that are both delicious and vibrant, promising a wide tasting window. As William Kelley has often pointed out, Thierry Pillot is one of the winemakers who have earned Chassagne-Montrachet its current reputation as the most dynamic village in the Côte de Beaune for fine white wines. Now in his forties, he continues to think about the next step: his viticulture, already innovative with tall and sometimes braided foliage, will soon be accompanied by a new winery located below the village, offering more space for storage and allowing for longer aging in his historic cellars in the heart of Chassagne.
- Cellaring : Drinkable from 2023 onwards, and can be kept for 15-20 years.
- Allergens : Contains sulfites
