Order wine : Vosne Romanée 1er cru Les Chaumes 2023, Domaine Méo Camuzet
Méo-Camuzet Frères et Sœurs from the estate
Tasting
This Vosne-Romanée stands out for its great finesse and elegance, characteristics that are emblematic of the appellation. Less imposing than prestigious premier crus such as Les Brûlées or Cros Parantoux, it is accessible and charming from the very first sip. It is a wine that quickly seduces, and bottles never stay on the table for long.
Aging
The solid vintages have good aging potential, but this wine expresses itself with great grace in its youth. Its natural finesse makes it particularly enjoyable in its early years. With time, its charm does not fade and it retains a beautiful liveliness, without ever falling into excessive evolution.
Aging
Barrel aging varies depending on the vintage, but this Vosne-Romanée reveals its character fairly quickly. It thus offers a faithful glimpse of the style and typicity of the year, while retaining a beautiful clarity from its early years in the bottle.
Vinification
The naturally delicate profile of this wine requires slightly more extensive vinification to reinforce its structure. We therefore favor more pronounced extraction, with more punching down and slightly higher fermentation temperatures. However, in years with low yields—which are quite frequent—the grapes are sufficient on their own and require little intervention.
Vines
The plots are of varying ages: one was planted in the late 1950s, the other in the 1970s. Curiously, the oldest vines are often the most productive, offering generous, well-formed bunches with an excellent balance between sugar and acidity. The younger vines, on the other hand, produce smaller grapes, sometimes with small berries, which are riper but also less structured.
