Château Pape Clément 1999
Pessac-Léognan
91/100 Parker
Cellaring: Ripe, you can drink it now.
Tasted by Robert M. Parker in 2002: "The stunning 1999 Pape Clement is a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon and 46% Merlot. This wine performs better in bottle than in barrel. It has a fabulous bouquet of smoke, blueberries, raspberry currants, and liquid minerals. It is a medium-bodied, layered, concentrated wine with no rough edges. As it sat in the glass, additional aromas of cedar wood, graphite and cigar smoke emerged. It is a classic, sexy, stunning Pessac-Léognan with a surprisingly dense, rich style for a 1999. "
