"The 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Colombis (100% Grenache from 70-year-old vines) is an elegant, harmonious, and medium-bodied example of this cuvée. It underwent no destemming and was aged in oak vats. Revealing aromas and flavors of fragrant kirsch, dark fruit, spice, toast, and cocoa, it is relatively expressive, supple, and already approachable. However, it does possess fine, present tannins, and this wine tends to gain in breadth and richness in the bottle."
This estate is being restructured as Isabel Ferrando plans to unify it with her Isabel Ferrando label under the Isabel Ferrando family. In addition, Ms. Ferrando has informed me that she plans to eliminate the bottles of the Auguste Favier Reserve and the Charles Giraud Collection, combining these lots and the "traditional" Châteauneuf de Saint-Prefert into one combined wine. The resulting red range would then include this "new" Châteauneuf du Pape, as well as the Colombis and F601 bottles. Almost everything she has done so far in her management of this estate has proven to be gold, so consumers should look forward to the new line."
