Description
The appellation Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet was created in 1937, "criots" coming from "craie (chalk)".
Vineyard of 1.57 ha, Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet is the only one of the four Grands Crus of the South of the Côte de Beaune to be entirely located in the commune of Chassagne-Montrachet. At an altitude of 240m, it is located a little lower than its neighbours the Grands Crus ChevalierMontrachet and Montrachet.
This plot benefits from a good exposure which guarantees the Chardonnay an excellent maturity. The soils are made up of scree and are relatively well drained. They rest on Bathonian limestone sometimes mixed with clay.
