94/100 James Suckling
A driven, focused, structured and energetic Gigondas red, showing blackberries, dark plums, licorice and baking spices. Full-bodied with sinewy tannins. It’s pulpy and lively, the crunchy purple-berry character lifted by dried herbs and peppercorns. Long, flavorful finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Opinion: The Gigondas de Saint Cosme is a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 14% Syrah and 1% Cinsault, aged in a combination of new and used oak, with 30% of the volume matured in concrete. Full-bodied and generous, it is round and supple, with no rough edges to impede the fluidity of the asphalt, red raspberries and black cherries that spread across the palate. With ample but not excessive concentration, this is a beautiful and seductive example of Gigondas to be enjoyed over the next decade.
